The Next New Thing

The next and up and coming new media can be somewhat like uber but for food. A person can download an app on their phone or tablet, and order food such as they would order a car service they would simple write down what they want, it can be pickup from a local restaurant or can even be used for grocery shopping. A person simple writes down what he wants and where he wants it from and the person on the other end receives this and goes out to get the products the person ordered. This can even go beyond food, it can be used for household appliances, electronics and other products people consume.      

Wiki So Far

 I have currently not started to contribute to the wiki page.  But I'm looking forward to contribute and added the gaming page by adding new upcoming games with future releases and even future consuels that will be released.  I am also going to add the health and fitness page and maybe the sports page.  I am also thinking about starting to creat the marketing page as well, but I have not yet decided.

P2P File Sharing

File sharing is the practice or ability to transmit files from one computer to another over a network or the Internet. It can be done privately or publicly. If many people are file sharing they may all have different access privileges or the same access privileges allowing them to see the information that is being shared? P2P file sharing allows users to access media files such as books, movies, music and games. It stands for peer-to-peer file sharing. As mentioned in the article "peers find less pressure borrowing from each other". An example of P2P file sharing is I have some music on my computer and I want to share it with my friend so we share the files over a network on the Internet and he receives all my music to his computer.

Privacy

 Privacy is becoming a really big issue when it comes to new media.  A lot of social networking sites make it pretty difficult to find what remains public and what remains private to people using that social networking site.  A lot of people there privacy because of this particularly people were just starting off with using social networking sites and new media.  They are most at risk because they do not know much about the privacy issue and how to set up privacy terms on the sites. Confidentiality comes into play because  once you lose your privacy you can't or it is hard to keep things confidential from people you want to keep them from.  I personally think privacy is a really big issue when talking about new media and it must be addressed more often,  and social networking site should make it easier to find the privacy button.

Advise

 If was hired by college to use new media  to improve the college I would do it in one very simple way.  I would use Facebook or a social networking site such as Instagram and go research the page that the college created for those sites and see what people are talking about and what they are discussing.  If I would see any complaints I would address it to the college and hopefully something will be done about it . I think this is a very good and effective way to seek improvements for institutions.

Creativity

New Media fosters creativity in many different ways. Might it be from seeing others do something and it inspiring you or maybe giving you different ideas on how to stand out from the rest. New media also gives people many new tools to use in many different ways, that weren't available before. “Creativity, Information Technology, and New Media,” looks at the ways in which the availability and relatively easy use of digital tools and the Internet have allowed more people to perform and share their creative acts (iv Issac Bell). The availability has made it much easier for people to share their creations and get reviews and thoughts from peers and others. "The ability to shift between the various audience roles (such as passive reader, discourse community, public or fandom) and even creative roles allows individuals to seek out communities where they receive compensation—in the sense of companionship, feedback, or even just a venue to share their thoughts—on different subjects in different ways" (43 Issac). This gives people the ability to seek out who they want their audience to be, may they want to make money off something or they just want feedback from the community, they can select and choose who they want to show their creations too.    

Virtual world

Virtual world can be used in many different ways, such as for practice for certain jobs such as a pilot that's in training. Another way virtual worlds can be used is in gaming. Virtual world foster creativity because people will constantly want to try new things out to see if they work, and a virtual world is perfect for that because it has the principle of no harm no foul, since the world is virtual such as a game it basically can't do much physical harm. Some pros of virtual world is that many people get to try out new things and give them a shot, another pro is that it can be like a way for people to relax and just not think about reality for a while, but at the same time I think that can be the biggest con of them all. Since people can and will enjoy their own virtual world they may detach themselves from reality and that can be a big problem. I think the future virtual worlds will look mostly like games for the near future.

Blog about Twitter

A Twitter discussion is much different from a blackboard discussion and even more different from an in class discussion. A Twitter discussion limits you to a certain amount of characters which at the same time limits you to how much you can say. People respond to you with the same format they are limited to how much they can say making it much harder to communicate about greater means. On a blackboard discussion you're not limited to how much you Can right. Allowing for discussion to go into greater depth. Moreover on a blackboard discussion people could also respond in depth to what you wrote allowing to discussion to continue much longer and have much greater meaning in my opinion. In a in class discussion, it allows you pretty much to do what you can do on blackboard but in person, meaning you can see a person's reaction to what you say in real life. That in my opinion my altered the way the discussion goes because when you're talking to a person directly in front of them you might say certain things in a different way and they might respond back differently back to you. I think the best way to discuss something is in person that is the most direct and Safeway to discuss something because you are right in front of the person and can explain yourself better.

Social Networking Sites

FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram and snap chat are all different forms of social media. I have all of these social media platforms on my cell phone and use most of them on a regular bases. The first one I have ever used is Facebook and at first i was hesitant whether or not I would like, but as time went on I learned to like it. Facebook gives you a lot more options about posts you can write a post you can post a picture and there isn't a limit on how many characters you can type. You can even share a video that doesn't have to be a specific length. Twitter on the other hand has a limitation on how much characters you can type, making it a much quicker way to share with friends family or associates. Instagram only lets you write when you share a picture or a video, and the video can only be 15 seconds long. People can either comment or like one of your posts. SnapChat only lets you view other peoples videos or share videos with other people and the only way to answer people on SnapChat is to send back a video or picture. Pretty much all of these platforms of social media have a certain form of reaching out to a specific person.

Social Networking

There are many benefits to social networking as there are dark sides to it. These technologies can be used in many different ways such as to just share with you friends, meet new people or even spread news or gather and come together on certain issues. Some corporations even use social networking such as Linkedin which is a social media platform companies use to find workers for their companies, or students such as us looking for work can try to find it on Linkedin. " One of Crawford-Hentz's favorite sites is Linkedin, a network of 8 million professionals spread across the world. Linkedin says users include executives from all of the Fortune 500 companies". (Social Networking Technology Boosts Job Recruiting), is a great example of how Linkedin helps people find jobs and how jobs find people to work for them. One dark side to social networking is, people are being different in a way that they only sometimes talk to people and feel okay about talking to people through social media and not in a person to person form, or even on the telephone. "Children used to actually talk to their friends. Those hours spent on the family princess phone or hanging out with pals in the neighborhood after school vanished long ago"(Antisocial Networking?). I think that some of these new social media platforms are a good thing but only if they are used in moderation. If people only use them to communicate things can get bad and they can get bad fast, It can consume peoples lives if they are only worried about these social media platforms and i think it already began doing so. 

Social networking

Social networking has become very popular in the past five years. It has many different effects on our world today, may it be good impacts or bad ones, it has many of each. I will be researching what positive effects social networking such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and more and what negative effects it has, on news, the world, on peoples health and others.
